Memorial Plaque Unveiled for Liu Zongxin, New Taipei Police Chief Killed in Drug Driving Stop

(Central News Agency, Huang Xusheng, New Taipei City, June 5) A memorial service and unveiling ceremony for the 'Light of Justice' commemorative plaque for the late Chief Liu Zongxin of the Qingshui Police Station, Tucheng Precinct, New Taipei City Police Department, was held today. The Tucheng Precinct stated that the plaque honors Chief Liu's exemplary dedication to public safety during a drug-driving stop.

The Tucheng Precinct stated that the afternoon ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Director-General Liao Xuncheng of the National Police Agency, Deputy Director Zhang Jincheng of the New Taipei City Police Department, Tucheng Precinct Chief Shen Mingyi, and Chief Liu's family. The atmosphere was solemn and mournful.

Chief Liu Zongxin of the Qingshui Police Station was killed on the night of September 30, 2024 (Republic of China year 113), while conducting a traffic stop. He was struck and dragged by a vehicle driven by a woman, Chen Jiaying, who was in possession of drugs, and was then hit against a guardrail.

During the plaque unveiling, Chief Liu's two young daughters proactively greeted Deputy Director-General Liao and presented him with carefully drawn pictures, which expressed their deep longing and love for their father.

Following this, officers and family members laid flowers symbolizing purity and respect. The precinct stated that the ceremony demonstrated the community's continued care for the bereaved family and the warm strength to accompany them through their grief, ensuring Chief Liu's spirit of upholding justice and dedicating himself to police service lives on.

The press release stated that the Tucheng Precinct also held Police Day activities today, including a blood drive and crime prevention awareness campaign. Volunteer groups such as the Police Friends Association, auxiliary police, civil defense, traffic volunteers, and volunteer squadrons actively participated in the blood drive to support medical blood supply needs.
