(Central News Agency, reporter Guan Ruiping, Miaoli County, June 5) A contracted driver for Chunghwa Post, 61-year-old surnamed Yang, was stabbed more than ten times and killed by a man surnamed Liu (36) on June 4 while loading mail at the Zhunan Post Office. Liu, who was dissatisfied with noise from the post office, was arrested at the scene. After being questioned by prosecutors on suspicion of murder, and due to a risk of flight, the court ordered his detention on the evening of June 5.

Liu, a resident of Zhunan Township, Miaoli County, had long been unhappy with the noise from cargo operations at the post office opposite his home. On June 4, he attacked Yang with a kitchen knife. Yang was stabbed more than ten times on his head, face, body, and hands, losing vital signs at the scene. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Police arrived at the scene after the incident and subdued and arrested Liu as a flagrant offender. After conducting an autopsy and interrogation on June 5, the Miaoli District Prosecutors' Office requested detention from the Miaoli District Court, citing the severity of the murder charge and flight risk. The court granted the request around 8:00 PM.

Chunghwa Post stated that Liu had previously sued the Zhunan Post Office over noise from mail loading and unloading. However, after an investigation by the court and noise level measurements by the Environmental Protection Bureau, it was found that the decibel levels did not exceed the standards set by the Noise Control Act.
