(Central News Agency reporter Zhao Liyan, Taichung, 5th) Central Bookstore has launched the 'Island Central, Art Chronicle' series of bamboo art exhibitions, featuring the Baishatun Mazu Q-version bamboo bowl and a series of special bamboo cups made from recycled bamboo node waste, allowing the public to see a new lifestyle of Taiwanese craftsmanship through bamboo art innovation. Central Bookstore issued a press release today announcing the second installment of the 'Island Central, Art Chronicle' series, titled 'Continuation of Nodes' bamboo art exhibition, running from now until August 2. In collaboration with Nantou Zhushan's Yuantai Bamboo Art Society, the exhibition focuses on the structure and craft transformation of bamboo materials, leading the public to see the contemporary language and new lifestyle of Taiwanese craftsmanship through bamboo art innovation. One of the highlights of the exhibition is a bamboo bicycle. Curator and third-generation head of Yuantai Bamboo Art Society, Lin Jiahong, stated that the team utilizes the natural lightweight and high toughness of bamboo, combining modern craftsmanship and design thinking to transform bamboo into a means of transportation that is functional, aesthetically pleasing, and sustainable, turning traditional materials into a design language close to modern life. The exhibition also features the 'Baishatun Mazu Q-version Bamboo Bowl' and a series of special bamboo cups made from recycled bamboo nodes. Once considered processing waste, bamboo nodes are transformed into popular bamboo cups featuring Godzilla, Baishatun Mazu, and Miffy through high-temperature carbonization, drying, and hand polishing. The works are all made from Moso bamboo and 3-year-old or older Makino bamboo, completed with 100% recycled bamboo node materials, demonstrating the practical results of circular design and sustainable craftsmanship. The 'Aodou Cup Wall' designed for the exhibition is also eye-catching. The colorful bamboo cups are made with EU-certified environmentally friendly, non-toxic water-based paint, which not only enhances product durability but also showcases a more diverse design style for bamboo craftsmanship.
