Marvell Discusses Future of Data Centers: All-Optical Interconnects to Eliminate Rigid Systems

Marvell CEO Matt Murphy delivered a keynote at COMPUTEX today, stating that future data centers will be all-optical, eliminating current rigid systems and enabling dynamic, large-scale composition. Architects will be able to design AI systems based on model requirements. Murphy noted that since his first visit to Taiwan 30 years ago, the country has solidified its position as a global tech hub, with much of the world's AI infrastructure built there. He pointed out that AI infrastructure performance depends not just on processor speed, but on the connection architecture linking millions of processors. ASE Technology Holding COO Tien Wu also appeared, stating that ASE is preparing production lines for Marvell. Wu explained that Taiwan's ecosystem is hard to replicate due to 40 years of transformation, 350,000 semiconductor professionals, and 1.1 million high-tech talents creating a unique cluster effect.
