Central News Agency, Taipei, June 2. Connection cable manufacturer BizLink-KY reported a Q1 profit of NT$2.273 billion, a 17% decrease from the previous quarter, ending an eight-quarter growth streak. Lin Ming-chun, Senior Vice President of the Computing and Transportation Business Group, stated today that as NVIDIA's AI server platform upgrades from GB to Vera Rubin in the second half, BizLink's performance is expected to improve, with growth projected quarter by quarter for the full year. Lin spoke to the media at COMPUTEX Taipei today. Addressing the Q1 gross margin of 28.76%, which fell 3.17 percentage points from the previous quarter and 1.62 percentage points year-on-year, Lin explained that this was primarily due to the transition between old and new platforms. Lin noted that NVIDIA's upcoming Vera Rubin platform will drive system upgrades, and demand for new optical communication and 800VDC high-voltage power cables is very strong. Lin admitted that while demand for optical communication is robust, the biggest supply bottleneck is the shortage of raw materials, ranging from optical fibers and glass rods to switch chips and laser components. He acknowledged that due to raw material shortages and the need for improved yields in optical communication, product prices are very high, and only a few major clients can afford them and secure their own supply chains. Lin revealed that BizLink has begun small-scale deliveries of optical communication products to NVIDIA. BizLink has completed the acquisition of Xin Fu Sheng, specializing in optical fiber interconnects, to bolster its technical capabilities. Currently, Xin Fu Sheng's capacity is fully utilized, and BizLink is planning significant expansions at its Tainan and China plants.
