Social Education Contribution Award Call for Entries Begins, First-Ever 2.85 Million TWD Prize Pool

Central News Agency, Taipei, June 2. The 2026 Social Education Contribution Award is open for submissions from today until June 15. This year, for the first time, prize money will be awarded, with a total prize pool of 2.85 million TWD, to recognize the unsung heroes who have been working in every corner of Taiwan for social education for many years. The Social Education Contribution Award began in 1975 and has been held for over 50 years. The Ministry of Education released a press release today stating that the achievements of past winners span various industries. Whether it is taking root in the community or promoting lifelong learning, they have continued to inject abundant energy into social education with diverse cross-domain, innovative practices, and resilient spirits. The Ministry of Education pointed out that in order to commend the behind-the-scenes heroes who have been working silently and selflessly in the field of social education, the 2026 Social Education Contribution Award will award prize money for the first time: 300,000 TWD for the Lifetime Contribution Award, 100,000 TWD for the Group Award, and 50,000 TWD for the Individual Award, with a total prize pool of 2.85 million TWD. The submission process is in two stages. In the first stage, applicants must mail their materials to the respective recommending units (central competent authorities or education administrative authorities of municipalities, counties, and cities) for preliminary review by June 15. In the second stage, the recommending units will send the list to the National Library of Public Information, the organizer of the award, by July 31. According to the 'Implementation Guidelines for the Ministry of Education Social Education Contribution Award', the achievements to be commended include promoting community, scouting, elderly, family, and multicultural education, as well as donating funds, sponsoring social education institutions, and editing and promoting cultural and historical education.
