Contemporary Music Ensemble Performs at 'Taiwan Night' in Toronto

CNA, Toronto, June 1. The 'Contemporary Music Ensemble' from Yilan, serving as the 2026 'US Taiwan Traditional Week and Canada Asian Heritage Month' cultural delegation, concluded their 10-city tour in Toronto on the last day of Asian Heritage Month. They performed as the finale at the annual 'Taiwan Night' gala, with Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) Minister Hsu Chia-ching in attendance. The performance, titled 'Glorious Taiwan,' combined dance, classical music, Taiwanese folk songs, and world classics, incorporating traditional arts and projection elements to showcase Taiwan's diverse and innovative spirit. The performance at the Toronto Cultural Center drew over 400 attendees, who gave a standing ovation. Canadian Member of Parliament Ali Ehsassi remarked that he has visited Taiwan many times and deeply appreciates its leading capabilities in various fields. Minister Hsu stated that the government specifically invited the ensemble to showcase Taiwan's cultural depth. Liang Yi-peng, Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Toronto, noted that the event was a perfect occasion to highlight the shared values between Taiwan and Canada.
