DPP Opens Registration for 'State Youth Flagship Camp'; Shen Po-yang Calls for Youth Participation

Central News Agency, Taipei, June 2. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has opened registration for its 'State Youth Flagship Camp,' scheduled to take place in Taipei from July 24 to 26. Shen Po-yang, a DPP candidate for Taipei Mayor, stated today that the camp is a way for youth to participate in deepening democracy, expressing hope that more young people will engage in public affairs and grassroots discussions to work together for Taiwan's future. The DPP held a press conference this morning to promote the event, attended by Secretary-General Hsu Kuo-yung, Shen Po-yang, Legislator Wu Pei-yi, spokesperson Wu Cheng, and Youth Department Director Huang Sheng-wen. Hsu Kuo-yung noted that the DPP has systematically promoted youth participation in public affairs through various programs, aiming to cultivate not just talent for the party, but hope for the nation. The camp will include lectures, field visits, and practical training to help youth understand the importance of public affairs. Shen Po-yang mentioned that while Taiwan has a high voter turnout, discussions in civil society need to be deepened, and real youth participation is essential for Taiwan's democracy to move forward. Legislator Wu Pei-yi welcomed youth to join, stating that both the central and Taipei city party headquarters will work with the younger generation to become agents of change in Taipei. The three-day, two-night camp will feature speakers from the Presidential Office, Legislative Yuan, and other government bodies, recruiting 80 youth aged 18-30, with applications open until June 21.
