Li Hao-yu Hits First Home Run in 36 Days, Shows Defensive Flair

Central News Agency, Los Angeles, June 1. Taiwanese player Li Hao-yu hit his second career MLB home run today. He drove the ball over the right-field wall and smiled as he rounded the bases. The Detroit Tigers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 10-9 on the road, ending a four-game losing streak. The Tigers hit five home runs in total, with catcher Dillon Dingler leading the charge with two home runs and four RBIs. The 23-year-old Li started at second base and went 2-for-5. This was Li's first home run in 36 days. Since being called up to the majors on April 17, Li hit his first career home run on April 26, becoming the youngest Taiwanese player to do so. After a slump in May, he showed signs of recovery in the first game of June. In the top of the 6th, he hit a fastball from Rays pitcher Trevor Martin over the right-field fence. He also showcased his defensive skills, including a glove-flip double play in the 5th inning.
