The National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) announced that multiple new drug coverage measures will take effect in June, covering treatments for children, rare diseases, and cancer. Among these, precision oral targeted therapies for colorectal and breast cancer have been introduced, saving patients approximately NT$970,000 to NT$1.72 million annually. According to NHIA data, the new coverage includes 'capivasertib' for patients with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer, and 'fruquintinib' for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. The NHIA also relaxed coverage regulations for chemotherapy drugs, which is expected to benefit approximately 8,200 cancer patients. In terms of rare disease treatment, the drug 'sotatercept' for pulmonary arterial hypertension was added to the coverage. Additionally, a new injectable drug for severe spasms in children was included. NHIA Director-General Chen Liang-yu stated that these adjustments were made based on clinical needs and financial sustainability, and the administration will continue to introduce innovative therapies.
