Taiwan Stocks Rise 219.4 Points

The Taipei stock market opened higher today and fluctuated throughout the session, closing up 219.4 points at 45,557.31, an increase of 0.48%, with a turnover of NT$1.607583 trillion. The weighted index opened at 45,388.93, reaching a high of 45,915.92 and a low of 44,869.38. The index excluding financial stocks rose 148.23 points to 41,351.94. Among the eight major sectors, cement/ceramic stocks fell 1.57%, food stocks rose 0.93%, plastics rose 0.69%, textiles rose 2.8%, machinery/electronics rose 0.33%, paper rose 0.34%, construction fell 0.79%, and financial stocks rose 2.2%. Buy orders totaled 29.63 million shares, sell orders 22.63 million, and traded volume was 19.04 million shares. At the close, 509 stocks rose, 511 fell, and 85 remained flat. The top five stocks by volume were Innolux, AUO, Uni-President 50, UMC, and Uni-President Taiwan Growth. The top five gainers were Huajing, Junbao, Xuhui, Hongyi, and Xinxian. The top five losers were Taisheng, Maike, Hiwin, Yubang, and Bochen.
