KMT Chair Cheng Li-wun leads delegation to the US, waves to media without statement

According to a report from CNA reporter Wu Rui-qi at Taoyuan Airport, KMT Chair Cheng Li-wun led a delegation to the United States on a late-night China Airlines flight on the 1st. Utilizing the Global Business Center's customs service, she boarded the plane only after other passengers had finished boarding. Facing the waiting media, Cheng waved but did not make a statement. The delegation traveled on China Airlines flight CI4, which was delayed from its scheduled 11:30 PM departure to 11:55 PM. Cheng had announced in a press conference earlier on the 1st that the delegation would visit the Hoover Institution at Stanford University in California for discussions with scholars, followed by visits to Harvard University and MIT in Massachusetts. Subsequently, the group will travel to New York and then Washington D.C. to meet with members of Congress, administration officials, and think tanks. After concluding the East Coast visit, Cheng will fly to Los Angeles to meet with the overseas community. Regarding the level of US administration officials she will meet, Cheng stated that she would meet with federal officials in Washington, including those from the Taiwan desk, the State Department, and the Department of Defense, but kept the specific levels and details confidential in accordance with past practice.
