Transit Facility Fee to Increase in Two Stages, Rising to NT$750 on Sept 1

According to CNA, transit passengers currently pay a NT$500 facility fee collected with their airfare. Due to factors such as price fluctuations, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has announced a two-stage increase: to NT$750 starting September 1 this year, and to NT$1,000 starting September 1, 2028. The Ministry explained that this adjustment is based on the user-pays principle to cover the massive construction costs of airports. Statistics show that in 2025, the number of transit passengers at Taoyuan Airport was approximately 6.9 million, generating about NT$1.7 billion in revenue. With the first stage of the increase, Taoyuan Airport Corporation is expected to see an additional NT$850 million in revenue. Except for diplomatic guests and children under two, all transit passengers must pay this fee, which is collected by airlines along with the ticket price.
