Man Arrested in Miaoli After Drug-Impaired Escape Attempt and Crash

Central News Agency, Miaoli, June 1. The Toufen Precinct of the Miaoli County Police Bureau reported that officers from the Jianshan Police Station spotted a motorcyclist committing a traffic violation on Zhonghua Road in Toufen City on the night of the 30th. When officers attempted to stop him, the 25-year-old suspect, surnamed Huang, accelerated and fled. Huang crashed his motorcycle in an alley on Yinhao Road and attempted to run away but was subdued by officers. During the struggle, Huang discarded a bag into nearby bushes, which officers recovered, finding six etomidate cartridges, a bag of etomidate raw material, and two bags of amphetamines. An additional etomidate cartridge and a heater were found on the motorcycle. Huang tested positive for drugs via a saliva test and was transferred to the Miaoli District Prosecutors Office for violations of the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act and public endangerment. He was also cited for dangerous driving.
