Marilyn Monroe Centennial Exhibition Opens; Iconic Pink Dress Debuts

CNA, Los Angeles, May 31. Hollywood, the hometown of Marilyn Monroe, will launch a series of special events on June 1 to commemorate the centennial of the legendary actress. According to AFP, fans plan to sing 'Happy Birthday' at the historic Chinese Theatre, recreating her iconic performance for President John F. Kennedy. The theater also preserves the handprints of Monroe and Jane Russell, her co-star in the 1953 film 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.' The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures has launched the 'Marilyn Monroe: A Hollywood Legend' exhibition to celebrate her film career and her short but brilliant life. After becoming a superstar in the 1950s, Monroe passed away in August 1962 at the age of 36. The museum will host special screenings of her representative works this month. The exhibition will run until February 2027 and includes hundreds of original items, some rarely seen, such as the famous pink dress she wore while singing 'Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend.' On June 4, Julien's Auctions will hold a special auction featuring nearly 200 precious items, including unpublished photos and handwritten recipes.
