Fubon Guardians Sweep CPBL May MVP Awards; Li Dong-ming and Chang Yu-cheng Win First Titles

The Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) announced today the May MVP awards for pitchers and hitters, both of which were swept by Fubon Guardians players. Pitcher Li Dong-ming won his first monthly award with four wins in the month. Hitter Chang Yu-cheng also secured his first monthly MVP award after hitting five home runs. The Fubon Guardians played 22 games in May, finishing with a record of 13 wins and 9 losses. Currently, they rank second in the first half of the season with 23 wins and 19 losses, trailing the league-leading Wei Chuan Dragons by 5 games. Li Dong-ming made four starts in May, pitching a total of 24 innings with 16 strikeouts and 3 runs allowed (2 earned). His monthly ERA was an impressive 0.75, earning him his first career monthly pitcher MVP. Chang Yu-cheng played 21 games in May, recording 26 hits in 70 at-bats, including 5 home runs, 10 RBIs, and 4 stolen bases. With a batting average of .371, he also won his first career monthly hitter MVP.
