Wei Chuan Dragons' Pitching Dominates; Manager Lin Yueh-ping Emphasizes Performance Over Draft Status

The Wei Chuan Dragons currently hold the best team ERA among the six CPBL clubs this season, with their bullpen bolstered by several players who were previously undrafted. Uni-Lions manager Lin Yueh-ping, impressed by the depth of the Dragons' pitching staff, stated that regardless of how a player enters the professional league, the ability to contribute as a viable asset is what matters most.

The Dragons have had a strong season, currently sitting at the top of the first-half standings. Before today's game, they held a five-game lead over the second-place Fubon Guardians, with a league-best team ERA of 2.12. In their matchups against the Uni-Lions, the Dragons have dominated, winning seven of their last nine games.

As the Uni-Lions continue their series against the Dragons at Tianmu Baseball Stadium today, manager Lin Yueh-ping noted that the Dragons have always possessed strong pitching. He observed that this year, their depth in both starting and relief roles is more substantial. Coupled with the presence of Bryan Woodall, who does not count toward the foreign player quota, the team is exceptionally difficult to break down.

Key bullpen contributors for the Dragons this season, such as Lin Hsin-chieh, Li Chao, and Wang Po-yang, were all players who had previously gone undrafted. However, Lin Yueh-ping emphasized that draft position is merely the result of long-term scouting. Whether a player enters via the draft or as a developmental player, the ultimate goal is to become a functional part of the team's roster.

Lin Yueh-ping added that the professional environment is highly competitive. He stressed that once in the league, players must show ambition, perform well, and earn the trust of the coaching staff, noting that a high draft pick does not guarantee success.
