TAI Body Theatre Wins Grand Prize at 24th Taishin Arts Award

The 24th Taishin Arts Award ceremony took place today, with 'TAI Body Theatre' winning the Grand Prize for its work 'qaqay: The Sound of Stepping on Water,' which expresses a philosophy of land through unique 'foot notation.' Additionally, the Visual Arts Award went to 'Cosmic Sketching—LuxuryLogico Solo Exhibition,' and the Performing Arts Award was presented to 'Body Weather: Oh! Baby 2025,' a collaborative work by artists Yao Li-chun, Kang Sung-kook, and Peng Pei-hsuan. Cheng Chia-chung, Chairman of the Taishin Bank Foundation for Arts and Culture, noted that among the 16 finalists, many were international collaborations, proving that contemporary art does not seek a single standard but expresses a polyphony of voices through sensibility and critical tension. Jury Chair Chen Cheng-hsi stated that artists use their work to resist forgetting and give richer meaning to 'freedom,' inspiring courage in these turbulent times. According to the foundation, 'TAI Body Theatre's' work embodies irreplaceable self-reflection and concern for the era, ranging from the dialogue between mechanical devices and the natural environment to the physical practice rooted in indigenous culture. 'Cosmic Sketching' showcases 15 years of cross-disciplinary collaboration by LuxuryLogico, presenting a 'poetics of affect' that transcends technology. 'Body Weather' was praised for generating resilient creativity from life's imperfections and challenging perceptions of 'disability.'
