Chia Yung-chieh Attends Shih Hsin University Graduation, Encourages Youth to Have a Rebellious Soul

She encouraged new graduates to possess a soul of integrity, rebellion, and courage, and used the example of Alex Honnold free-soloing up Taipei 101 to encourage innovation and breakthroughs. Chia participated in the afternoon session of the Shih Hsin University graduation ceremony, with participants mainly from the Department of Journalism and the Department of Speech Communication. She joked at the beginning that she accepted the invitation immediately because today's graduates might report on or criticize her in the future, saying, 'I'm here to ask you to go easy on me in the future.' Chia called on graduates to uphold the 'power of truth,' humorously adding, 'If there is any news in the future, can you verify it with me? I will definitely accept interviews.' Discussing life experiences, Chia encouraged students to have a soul of integrity, rebellion, and courage. Integrity is the foundation for all decisions, ensuring one is not afraid of threats or temptations; and honest people can also be rebellious and brave. She cited American rock climber Alex Honnold's free solo climb of Taipei 101 as an example, noting that without a rebellious soul, this world-renowned activity could not have been achieved. Li Pei-lin, Dean of the College of Journalism and Communications at Shih Hsin University, reminded graduates that 'speed is important, but truth is even more important.' As technology becomes more powerful, with voices and images highly simulated, fake news will become increasingly difficult to identify, and one must always remember to verify. Li mentioned that modern people receive a large amount of fragmented information every day and can easily lose the ability to think. When facing algorithms, do not lose human subjectivity, and there is always a value judgment and choice behind technology; the core of communication is not to attract attention, but to build understanding and trust. Shih Hsin University will hold 10 graduation ceremonies on May 30, 31, and June 6. Tonight's graduate school ceremony will feature actress Sun Shu-mei and weather anchor Li Fu-cheng as graduates, which is one of the highlights.
