KMT Chair Cheng Li-wun Meets Religious Leaders, Hopes to Promote Peace Globally

Central News Agency, Taipei, May 30. KMT Chair Cheng Li-wun met with leaders of Taiwan's religious community today. She stated that while promoting cross-strait peace, the KMT also hopes to start from Taiwan to pursue world peace, cherishing Taiwan's unique religious harmony, kindness, and peaceful connections, and promoting this tolerance, great love, and positive energy from Taiwan to the whole world. The KMT released a press release stating that Cheng, accompanied by Vice Chair and Secretary-General Li Chien-lung and Vice Chair Hsiao Hsu-tsung, met with religious leaders. Cheng noted that in the face of global chaos, it is necessary to view each other with a broad mind, cherish Taiwan's religious harmony, and promote this positive energy globally. Cheng pointed out that Taiwan not only has an economic miracle but, more importantly, the tolerance and kindness shown by its religious forces, which shine not only in Taiwan but across the world. Cheng stated that while pushing for cross-strait peace, the KMT hopes to pursue world peace and hopes that one day killings and wars will disappear. While this ideal is distant, Taiwan can start from its own religious tolerance to bring more positive energy to a chaotic world. Cheng mentioned that Taiwan society has seemed full of negative energy recently, and meeting with religious leaders before her visit to the U.S. was a rare opportunity to feel positive energy. Cheng stated that the current situation in the U.S. is complex, and the world faces chaos; Taiwan should bring kindness, tolerance, and religious love to the world, which is Taiwan's unique strength. Cheng pointed out that many killings and hatreds in the world stem from religious conflicts; Taiwan's ability to bring all religions together in mutual respect is precious. She hopes that all religions in Taiwan can continue to gather and promote this kindness and broad-mindedness to the world, making Taiwan an important force for peace, tolerance, and great love.
