The Ministry of Defense issued a statement noting that the drone was tracked by radar after entering Romanian airspace, then crashed onto the roof of a building in Galati, causing a fire that left two people with minor injuries and forced several others to evacuate. Police and relevant units rushed to the scene. Galati is located along the Danube River, east of the border between Moldova and Ukraine. Finnish President Alexander Stubb condemned the act on social media, stating: "Russia has crossed another red line in its war of aggression against Ukraine." Stubb emphasized that "NATO is discussing this situation internally," but did not disclose further details. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen pointed out that this incident shows Russia has "crossed another red line." She said the EU will continue to strengthen the security of its eastern borders and is actively formulating the 21st round of sanctions against Russia. She wrote on social media: "A Russian drone invaded and attacked a densely populated area in Romania, causing civilian injuries. This is on EU territory." The French Foreign Minister also condemned Russia's move today as an "irresponsible act."
