Taiwan Government to Subsidize Reduced Working Hours for Parents

According to CNA, the government announced a new population strategy on the 27th. For employees with children under 12, if they apply for a one-hour reduction in daily working hours and the company agrees, the government will fully subsidize the wages for that hour. Minister of Labor Hung Shen-han stated that the government will also provide incentives to companies and a subsidy of 800 NTD per day for substitute workers. The policy expands the eligibility from children aged 0-3 to those under 12, aiming to promote work-life balance. Minister Hung emphasized that the policy relies on mutual agreement between labor and management, considering the operational needs of businesses.
