President Lai Ching-te and his administration announced the 'New Strategy for Taiwan's Demographic Policy' today. Workplace-friendly measures include extending marriage leave to 14 days, maternity leave to 12 weeks, and paternity leave to 14 days. A daily subsidy of NT$800 will be provided for substitute staff, regardless of company size. Parental leave is expanded to cover children aged 0-6, with parents eligible for up to 18 months in total. Additionally, parents with children aged 0-12 can reduce their daily working hours by one hour without a salary cut, with the government subsidizing the cost. Tax exemptions for minor children will increase by 50%, and local governments are authorized to provide property and land tax relief for families. President Lai emphasized that creating a workplace where work and family are not mutually exclusive is crucial for demographic health.
