[Seminar Purpose]

In regenerative medicine, scaffold materials play a crucial role as supports for three-dimensionally distributing cells, imparting specific shapes, and providing space for regeneration. Scaffold materials are required to possess various properties, including the ability to control cell differentiation from adhesion and proliferation towards matrix production, high biocompatibility, and mechanical strength. Furthermore, for ideal tissue regeneration, it is desirable that the porous material is replaced by new tissue as the proliferated cells and produced extracellular matrix organize to form new biological tissue. Therefore, bioabsorbable polymer scaffold materials are often used. This seminar will explain the fundamentals and cutting-edge achievements in the research and development of scaffold materials for regenerative medicine.
