Our company supports April Dream, which aims to make April 1st a day to announce dreams.

This press release is the dream of "Claudio Co., Ltd."

Claudio Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo) declares its commitment to promoting "dual careers" for athletes. Our dream at Claudio is to create an environment where the experience and strength gained from dedicating oneself to competition can also be utilized in the business world.

■ Background of the Dream

"Give up competition, or give up a career?"

Many athletes are forced to make this choice. Even for professional athletes, only a small fraction can support their lives solely through competition. Even if they wish to work, there are still not enough companies that offer flexible working arrangements to accommodate practice and games, leaving many athletes with no choice but to give up one or the other.

Considering this problem to be a lack of mechanisms on the receiving end rather than with the athletes themselves, Claudio began by creating its own system. This started in 2022 when the company became a job sponsor for the Kanto Soccer League team "Briobecca Urayasu" (at the time), leading to the introduction of the "Dual Career Employee System."

■ Current Initiatives

Currently, Claudio has eight members who have balanced sports such as soccer and boxing with their work.

One of them is a former futsal Japan national team player.

During her time with Tachikawa Athletic FC Ladies, working hours that allowed her to attend evening practices were a prerequisite. The reasons she chose Claudio were the availability of a shortened working hours system compatible with her sport and an environment where she could grow even without prior experience.

After retiring from active play, she is now in charge of in-house development and BPO accounting operations.

"Even in situations where an immediate answer isn't apparent, I maintain focus and tackle things one by one, reorganizing them. If something doesn't work, I rethink it and consider another approach." The tenacity honed through competition is put to good use in her daily work. She says that the process of researching and understanding suits her, and she is expanding her work scope by accumulating small successes. She plans to continue being involved in both futsal and business, leveraging the experience gained from her sport.

Another is a former player who was active with Briobecca Urayasu.

He also joined as a dual career employee with shortened working hours, and after retiring from active play, he became a full-time employee responsible for everything from customer requirements definition to design, development, and improvement proposals. The impetus was his involvement in team behind-the-scenes work, such as merchandise sales and expense management, where he felt that "if there was a system, it could be done more efficiently."

"It only has meaning if you commit to it seriously." This mindset, cultivated through soccer, is reflected in his work attitude, where he approaches customer issues as if they were his own.

Both are serious about their "next challenge" even after their competitive careers have ended. In Japan, there are still not many athletes who jump into the business world in this way.

■ Future Initiatives

Our dream is not to keep this system within our company alone.

We want Claudio to expand the opportunities for active and retired athletes to step into the IT and business worlds, leveraging their athletic experience. We will share the know-how gained from dual career recruitment externally and collaborate with like-minded companies to increase athletes' career options.

We will not let the strength built through sports end with competition alone. That is Claudio's April Dream.

We aim for the day when people say, "Claudio means dual careers."

On April 1st, we declare this dream.

*"April Dream" is a project by PR TIMES where companies announce dreams they wish to realize on April 1st. We aim to achieve this dream.
