Classroom Adventure Inc. (Representative Director: Zentaro Imai) has announced that its game-based media literacy program, "Rei's Blog - Information Literacy through Mystery Solving," has won the Social Action category at the "Internet Media Awards 2026," organized by the Japan Internet Media Association (JIMA). The Internet Media Awards 2026 reviewed content and activities published or highlighted in 2025, and "Rei's Blog" was selected in the Social Action category, which targets works and activities that have made an impact on solving social issues such as countermeasures against fake news and disinformation, and education.
The Internet Media Awards is an award that honors works and activities that deliver reliable information to society in an easy-to-understand and correct manner, leading to positive change. For the 2026 awards, a total of 10 works, including the Grand Prix and various departmental awards, were decided after a preliminary selection by JIMA members' votes and a final selection through discussions by the selection committee.
"Rei's Blog" is a program designed to address the social issue of misinformation and disinformation not by unilaterally teaching knowledge, but by allowing participants to practically learn how to engage with information by encountering, questioning, thinking, and discussing information within a narrative. Through the format of a mystery-solving game, it aims to foster an attitude of not taking information at face value, but rather pausing, researching, verifying, and making judgments.
With the widespread adoption of advanced generative AI, our information environment is rapidly becoming more complex, with sophisticated fake images and videos, information that incites division, and rumors spreading during disasters. In this context, "Rei's Blog" has translated the abstract and often difficult theme of information literacy into an experiential learning opportunity that participants can relate to personally. We believe this award recognizes both the educational significance of addressing social issues and the successful integration of entertainment as an entry point for learning. Currently, it is being deployed in over 14 countries and regions, including Japan and Taiwan.
Award Comment Thank you very much for this wonderful award.
Misinformation and disinformation are now extremely significant global social issues. With sophisticated fakes generated by generative AI, information inciting political division, and rumors spreading during disasters, our information environment is becoming more complex every day. In such circumstances, we have believed that this challenge cannot be overcome by merely emphasizing anxiety and fear. What is needed is learning that instills hope in the ability to pause before information, think for oneself, verify, and make judgments.
With this in mind, Classroom Adventure developed the game-based media literacy program "Rei's Blog." It is designed to enable participants to practically learn how to engage with information through an experience where they encounter, question, think, and discuss information within a narrative, rather than being unilaterally taught knowledge. We believe that precisely because social issues are serious, the entry point for learning should be positive and engaging.
Receiving this recognition in such a manner is a great encouragement to us. At the same time, we are reminded of our responsibility to deliver information literacy education to more people in a more impactful way.
Moving forward, we will continue to provide enjoyable and practical learning opportunities so that many people, including children and younger generations, can proactively engage with information rather than being swayed by it, and become active contributors to a better society. Thank you very much. Zentaro Imai, Representative Director, Classroom Adventure Inc.
Selection Committee Comment
In an era where it is increasingly difficult to discern the truth of information due to the widespread adoption of advanced generative AI, this is an innovative social action that tackles social issues like fake news by incorporating the entertainment of "mystery-solving." It is skillfully designed to allow participants to experience the process of questioning and verifying information firsthand, thereby making the abstract concept of media literacy feel personal. Scientific evidence from psychology and other fields is increasingly demonstrating that positive emotions significantly enhance learning effectiveness and proactivity. We highly commend this work for transforming the defense against the negative aspects of technology into an exciting play experience, fostering essential societal skills through enjoyment. Professor Tokutaro Hiramoto (Professor, Department of Management Information Science, Faculty of Information Science and Technology, Kanazawa Institute of Technology; Director, SDGs Promotion Center)
Future Outlook Classroom Adventure will continue its challenge to transform social issues from being presented as "difficult things to learn" into learning experiences where participants can deeply think and proactively engage with passion. We will expand practical educational opportunities in collaboration with various settings such as schools, local governments, companies, and local communities, fostering the ability to think, verify, and judge for oneself, rather than being swayed by information.
