CLASS EARTH Inc. (Chuo-ku, Tokyo) and Plantio Inc. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) held a kickoff event and momentum-building experience event for the "Earth Saver Farm" project, which has been selected for the flower and green exhibition at the "GREEN×EXPO 2027" International Horticultural Expo to be held in Yokohama in 2027, at the "Smart Community Farm" in Otemachi, Tokyo.

This project is an initiative where children, as the main actors, utilize IoT technology for food and agriculture education and the use of unused resources to disseminate actions for realizing a sustainable society (Nature Positive) to the world.
At this event, approaches to food security and environmental issues from both business and education perspectives were shared through panel discussions by experts from various fields.
■ Representative Greetings: Updating "Agriculture" with Technology and Nurturing Next-Generation Leaders
Children from Earth Saver and special guest Reon Tanie, voice actor for Kanade in "Chikyu no La Terre," also appeared at the event. The moderation was handled by Kaede, Chief Earth Saver, a representative of the children who are the main characters of this project. At the beginning, representatives from both co-exhibiting companies took the stage and spoke about the project's vision.
Takayoshi Serizawa, Representative Director and CEO, Plantio Inc.
"Plantio is a startup that proposes 'Agritainment,' which views interacting with food as entertainment. We aim to implement and expand new experiences that connect 'agriculture' and 'people' through technology in society."
Haruka Takagishi, Representative Director, CLASS EARTH Inc.
"Expos and horticultural expos are places where children can experience the world and discover biodiversity initiatives in various countries. We will implement a project where children, not just experiencing what adults have prepared, can take the lead and disseminate their messages to the world."
It was also announced that Sotaro Obara, Representative Director of the General Incorporated Association The Organic and Ambassador for the Ministry of the Environment's Mori Satokawa Umi Project, will participate as an advisor to lead this project.
■ Crisis of Food Security due to Climate Change and Transition to "Nature Positive"
In the panel discussion, the critical situation of "food security," which is directly linked to recent supply chains, was reported. Taking Wakayama's Nanko Ume as an example, the situation where the harvest volume decreased by 80% due to warm winters and lack of rain causing shifts in pollination timing, and the soaring prices of agricultural materials due to emergencies and high oil prices, highlighted the limitations of agriculture dependent on fossil fuels.
Mr. Obara touched upon the government's strategy to "expand organic farming to 25% by 2050" and proposed the importance of "mitigation" to reduce greenhouse gases and "adaptation" to respond to environmental changes. Furthermore, he emphasized that realizing "Nature Positive," which not only preserves damaged environments but also makes them better, requires a long-term plan spanning decades, and the question is whether "our adult generation can create the best baton and pass it on to the next generation." He highly praised this project, where children will disseminate messages through their experience of growing crops at Earth Saver Farm, as "a very important initiative in the new stage of creating the Earth."
■ "New Food and Agriculture Education" Utilizing IoT x AI
Mr. Serizawa pointed out the current situation where many vegetable seeds in Japan depend on overseas imports. He explained that by cross-breeding seeds for about three generations in urban farms, they can become localized, like "Otemachi Vegetables," which leads to a future food culture (diversification of seeds) resilient to climate change.
Supporting this is Plantio's uniquely developed IoT sensor, "Grow Connect."
It acquires six types of data: soil temperature/moisture, outside air temperature, outside humidity, sunlight, and image sensor (camera), digitally recording vegetable cultivation that previously relied on intuition and experience. This enables inquiry-based learning to unravel "why it withered" or "why it grew" from data, and also allows for digital copying (library creation) of cultivation data from skilled cultivators using AI calculations.
A new AgriTech education model, optimal for digital-native children, was presented.
■ Embodying a Circular Economy: The "Best Secret Base" and Preservation of Endangered Vegetables
As a highlight of the exhibition, a concept for a house (secret base) utilizing "abandoned bamboo forests," a serious social problem in Japan, was unveiled.
*The perspective is a current image and may change in the future.
The building, which will be constructed by cutting bamboo together with children, will focus on two types of cultivation.
First, Japanese grapes will be cultivated on the exterior walls of the building. Everyone will harvest them at the end of the Horticultural Expo, and cultivate them.
