Notably, more than half of the organizations selected for AI50 are also listed among the 2026 Top 100 Global Innovators.

The organizations selected for AI50 are concentrated in specific countries, regions, and major industrial sectors.

Approximately 80% are headquartered in four countries/regions: Mainland China (15 organizations), the United States (14 organizations), South Korea (6 organizations), and Japan (6 organizations). Government and academic research institutions also represent a significant proportion, followed by companies in sectors such as software & media, electronics & computing, and semiconductors.

These hubs, driven by mechanisms for continuous talent development and supply, supplier ecosystems, and cross-border collaborations, are regions and fields where innovation acceleration and rapid implementation are fostered.

The analysis for AI50 was conducted by the Clarivate Center for IP and Innovation Research.

The analysis employed a rigorous methodology based on the Derwent World Patents Index (DWPI), utilizing the Derwent Strength Index to measure invention impact, success, rarity, and geographic investment.
