Sugai Laundry Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Asahikawa City, Representative Director: Kenkei Sugai) and Asahikawa Gas Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Asahikawa City, Representative Director and President: Katsuhiro Takanuma) have signed the "Agreement on Cooperation in Cleaning During Disasters" on March 30, 2026, with the aim of supporting restoration activities in the event of a large-scale disaster in Asahikawa City and its vicinity, and Ebetsu City.

This agreement aims to rapidly establish a system for collecting, washing, and delivering work clothes and daily wear to ensure the sanitary environment for Asahikawa Gas's restoration workers and support teams during disaster recovery operations. In the event of a large-scale disaster, hundreds to a thousand support personnel from across the country gather, and restoration work is carried out day and night. While ensuring the living environment for these workers is crucial at such sites, sufficient preparation has also been required regarding the sanitary management of work clothes, considering the impact on work efficiency and health.

This agreement aims to build and strengthen a system and preparedness that supports restoration activities from the perspective of "washing and hygiene" as essential infrastructure for daily life, addressing these challenges.

Sugai Laundry's System In addition to general apparel cleaning, Sugai Laundry operates a commercial laundry business for uniforms in the medical and food sectors, as well as coin laundries. They have a collection and delivery network (8 vehicles) covering the entire city. Furthermore, during the COVID-19 pandemic, they were responsible for hygiene measures at cluster outbreak facilities, thoroughly disinfecting and sanitizing work clothes, demonstrating their experience in emergency response.
