Toshima City Signs Disaster Mutual Cooperation Agreement with Vocational and Special Training School Association

On Monday, May 25, Toshima City signed a "Disaster Mutual Cooperation Agreement" with the Toshima City Association of Vocational and Special Training Schools at the City Hall main building.

Background of the Agreement
The Toshima City Association of Vocational and Special Training Schools is composed of 24 member schools located in the district, with the purpose of promoting vocational and special training schools. Of these, 16 schools have agreed to sign this agreement. Issues during disasters include a shortage of temporary shelter facilities for stranded commuters, lack of support in various specialized fields at relief centers, and a shortage of volunteer human resources.

Under this agreement, activities such as disaster response utilizing the specialized knowledge of students and instructors, countermeasures for stranded commuters, and the dissemination of disaster volunteer information have been established. In the event of a disaster, upon the city's request, member schools will provide multilingual support for foreign visitors, assistance for individuals requiring special care using specialized knowledge and skills, and provide their facilities as temporary shelter spaces. The city will continue to collaborate with member schools to improve disaster prevention capabilities throughout the region.

Regarding the signing, Mayor Miyuki Takagi stated, "Receiving cooperation from vocational and special training schools across various fields is very reassuring for managing shelters and preparing Toshima City's disaster prevention system. I am very pleased to have signed this agreement with an association that includes professionals in specialized fields and students in training. We will continue to deepen our cooperation to strengthen self-help, mutual aid, and public assistance."
