Toshima Ward Public Health Center Opens Today, May 7th, as a Hub for Protecting Residents' Lives and Health!

Toshima Ward announced today, May 7th (Thursday), the relocation of the Ikebukuro Public Health Center to a redevelopment building (Mirazo Ikebukuro North Tower) in Minami Ikebukuro 2-chome C District North Block, reopening it as the "Toshima Ward Public Health Center."

Purpose and Functions of Toshima Ward Public Health Center

The new public health center will implement new initiatives such as "enjoyable health promotion," "effective information dissemination," and "measures for young women." It aims to strengthen specialized public health functions and expand health promotion support, striving to become a more comprehensive facility as a hub for protecting the lives and health of ward residents.

On the second floor, which serves as the entrance to the public health center, general reception, health check-up reception, various examination rooms, and a holiday clinic are consolidated to improve convenience. On the third floor, various permit and approval application counters are set up, and meeting rooms are also equipped to function as a medical response headquarters during disasters.

Furthermore, a new health promotion support base called "Watashi Mente Labo" has been established in a corner of the second floor. Its purpose is to help residents gain "awareness" about health and encourage behavioral changes towards "prevention." The space, designed to resemble a laboratory, features a "Health Measurement Corner," "Health Consultation Corner," and "Health Information Corner," where residents can perform health self-checks. Health concierges with qualifications such as registered dietitians and public health nurses will also provide health consultations. This facility offers a place for residents to confront their own health and supports their health promotion efforts.

In collaboration with Nagoya University, the "Toshima Community Compass" AI demonstration project will be fully implemented. This project uses AI to provide personalized recommendations for community plaza circles, outing spots, and recommended manga, based on body composition measurement results and local activity information.

Regarding the opening of the Toshima Ward Public Health Center, Mayor Miyuki Takagi commented, "We focused on a warm design to make the Toshima Ward Public Health Center an even more familiar place for residents as a hub for health promotion. Content: Residents can perform on-the-spot health self-checks using health measurement devices. *From May to July, as a commemorative opening event, "Rakuraku Wellness" will be specially installed, allowing brain age and vascular age measurement. Residents can measure their brain age and brain stress level in a game-like manner, and easily self-check their vascular age.
