Tomi City, Nagano Prefecture: Migration & Career Seminar to be held in Ginza, Tokyo

Tomi City, Nagano Prefecture, will hold the "Work, Create, Make in Tomi: Migration & Career Seminar" on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the Ginza NAGANO 5F Event Space, targeting individuals interested in job changes, entrepreneurship, and new farming.

At this seminar, guest speakers who have relocated to Tomi City and built new careers in the region will share their real-life experiences about working and living in a rural area.

For those who think, "I want to work as a local government official," "I want to start a business in a rural area someday," "I want to raise my children near nature," or "I want to try farming," this event offers an opportunity to concretely envision a career and life in Tomi City.

Change your career. Change your life. Consider your "next way of working" in Tomi City.

This event will introduce Tomi City, outline the civil service examination, and present examples of new farmers and migrants who have found employment.

Additionally, a cross-talk session will be held with guest speakers who have moved to Tomi City and are engaged in agriculture and entrepreneurship.

Senior migrants who started businesses after serving in the Regional Revitalization Cooperation Team and practitioners who began farming in Tomi City will share the realities of "working," "creating," and "making" in a rural area.

In the latter half of the seminar, there will be a casual exchange time where attendees can freely converse with guests and city officials. For those interested, individual employment consultations with a career coordinator will also be available.

Program
- 14:00-14:15 Orientation: Introduction to Tomi City, overview of civil service exams, introduction to new farming and employment for migrants
- 14:15-15:00 Cross-talk by Guest Speakers: "Working, Creating, and Making in Tomi"
- 15:00-15:30 Exchange Time / Individual Employment Consultation: A time for relaxed conversation with guests and city officials. Individual employment consultations with a career coordinator are available for those who wish.

Guest Speakers
- Ms. Minami Ogiwara: Operates "MinamiFarm" in Tomi City, producing and selling organic agricultural products, mainly Italian mini tomatoes, and accepting agricultural experience participants. She is also involved in grape cultivation at "Ogihara Farm" and community-based agricultural projects through G.K. Marugoto. Attracted by Tomi City's nature and environment, she moved there and now lives with her husband and one child.
- Mr. Takuma Kobayashi: Operates "pine" based in Tomi City, engaged in video shooting/production, English/Japanese classes, and YouTube management. He also serves as a pastor at the online church "Cloud Church." He moved to Tomi City with his family seeking a good environment for raising children and and was involved in promoting the region's charm through SNS and videos as a member of the Regional Revitalization Cooperation Team. He now lives with his wife and three children.
