Takatsuki City's Unique Anti-Inflation Budget Bill, Including Extension of Basic Water Charge Waiver, Approved

On Monday, May 11, Reiwa 8 (2026), Takatsuki City submitted a budget of approximately 1.3 billion yen for its unique anti-inflation measures, including an extension of the basic water charge waiver and support for local businesses, to the second extraordinary city council meeting of Reiwa 8. The bill was deliberated and adopted on the same day.

The main contents of the supplementary budget approved today are:
1. Extension of the current waiver of basic water charges for small-diameter household use (13 to 25 millimeters) for six months until the March 2027 meter reading (a waiver of 5,214 yen per household).
2. New waiver of basic water charges for business use (30 millimeters or more) for eight months from August 2026 until the March 2027 meter reading.
3. Subsidies for transport operators and liquor manufacturers, and grants for social welfare facilities, health insurance medical institutions and pharmacies, educational and childcare facilities, and farmers, totaling 1,303,992,000 yen.
