Promoting "Shogi City Takatsuki" with Attractive Manhole Cover Designs

Takatsuki City, which is revitalizing the city through various initiatives related to shogi, will implement a project to solicit designs for attractive manhole covers that will lead to the promotion of "Shogi City Takatsuki" from April 9 (Thursday) to May 20 (Wednesday), Reiwa 8 (2026). Manhole covers, including the adopted designs, will be newly produced and installed around this winter in "Takatsuki Center Gai," located in the city center and used by an average of 14,000 people daily.

These manhole covers are planned to be installed by the city as part of the "Shogi City Takatsuki" initiative. The design solicitation is being carried out as a 25th-anniversary project of "Takatsuki Art Expo," a participatory art event held since 2001 with the aim of revitalizing commerce, creating local vibrancy, and discovering and nurturing young creators. Under the theme of "attractive designs that lead to the promotion of 'Shogi City Takatsuki'," one design each will be selected from the junior high school and high school categories, and three designs from the general public category, for a total of five designs. Manhole covers produced based on the selected designs are scheduled to be installed around this winter in "Takatsuki Center Gai," which connects JR Takatsuki Station and Hankyu Takatsuki City Station and is used by an average of 14,000 people daily. Eligibility:
Junior High School Division: Junior high school students residing in or attending school in Takatsuki City
High School Division: High school students residing in or attending school in Takatsuki City
General Public Division: People aged 18 or older as of April 9, Reiwa 8 (2026), who have affection and interest in Takatsuki City and want to express the charm of the city.
*Excluding high school students, including vocational school students and university students.
