Ama Ruins is a moated settlement site from the Yayoi period. It is known as one of the earliest places in the Kinki region where rice cultivation began, as paddy field remains from the early Yayoi period (approximately 2500 years ago), considered among the oldest in Kinki, were discovered here in Reiwa 5 (2015).
This special exhibition introduces the lifestyle of the Yayoi period in an easy-to-understand manner, with the theme of "clothing, food, and shelter." At the venue, there will be a corner where visitors can wear "Kanto-i" (a type of ancient garment), hold bows and arrows or wooden farming tools, and take commemorative photos. There will also be a space where visitors can touch fire-starting tools. The exhibition is designed for visitors to experience Yayoi life by actually touching the tools. In addition, replicas of pottery and stone tools used for cooking and other purposes will be displayed and can be handled. A weaving experience will also be offered, allowing participants to experience a part of the process of weaving cloth using thread, thus touching upon the difficulties of manual labor in ancient times. Furthermore, to make it easy for elementary school students to understand, panel displays illustrating the differences in life during the Paleolithic, Jomon, and Yayoi periods will be available, allowing visitors to learn about the flow of prehistory. Please come and enjoy this exhibition at Ama Ruins Park in spring, where you can see, touch, and experience!
