The Showa era was a long and transformative period spanning 64 years, from the prewar and wartime years through postwar recovery, rapid economic growth, and the beginning of the bubble economy.
This special exhibition was co-created with volunteer citizen curators, combining personal artifacts they contributed with museum-held materials to present a nostalgic, distant yet familiar portrayal of life during the Showa era. Anyone who lived through the Showa period will find a reflection of their younger selves in this exhibition.
