・About Shinagawa City and Jimoty's Initiatives
Shinagawa City has been engaged in various waste reduction activities, with "promotion of reuse" as one of the basic policies in its general waste disposal basic plan.
Until Reiwa 7 (2025) fiscal year, the city has provided opportunities for reuse by listing items that are still usable from bulky waste on the Jimoty website.
Going forward, not limited to bulky waste, residents will be able to easily list their unwanted items on Jimoty themselves, choosing the option to "give away" before discarding them. Additionally, since residents will conduct peer-to-peer transactions, items that would not fetch a price at a買取店 (secondhand store) or are difficult to transport will also become tradable. This aims to expand the volume of reuse.
Furthermore, an official Shinagawa City account will be created within Jimoty to disseminate city information, including reuse, to a wider range of residents.
