Sapporo Water Festival 2026 to be Held on June 20 (Sat) and 21 (Sun)

The Sapporo City Waterworks Bureau will host the 'Sapporo Water Festival 2026' to promote awareness of the importance of water and deepen public understanding and interest in water supply systems, fostering a sense of familiarity with municipal water services.

This annual two-day event, held at the Sapporo Waterworks Memorial Hall, typically attracts around 10,000 visitors and offers enjoyable activities for the entire family.

1. Event Dates and Times

Saturday, June 20, 2026 (Reiwa 8): 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM Sunday, June 21, 2026 (Reiwa 8): 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM * The event will be held rain or shine.

3. Featured Event Highlights

Tasting Water Corner A comparative tasting corner featuring Sapporo's tap water versus bottled mineral water. Visitors can enjoy and experience firsthand the taste differences and quality of water.

Water Career Experience Corner An interactive corner where visitors can easily and enjoyably experience jobs related to water supply operations.

Quiz and Mystery Solving Rally A fun quiz rally focused on water and water supply systems. Original merchandise will be given to the first 300 visitors each day!

Additional attractions include water experiment shows, mini-game zones, stage performances, and light food vendors.

4. Access to the Waterworks Memorial Hall (For General Visitors)

Visitors are encouraged to use the free shuttle bus or public transportation such as trams and city buses.

The parking lot at the Waterworks Memorial Hall is extremely limited. Due to congestion, private vehicles may not be allowed entry. Parking on public roads is strictly prohibited. Waiting on roads for available parking spaces is also not permitted as it obstructs traffic.

From Bus Terminal Bay #3 at Maruyama Koen Station on the Tozai Subway Line (runs approximately every 20 minutes; travel time about 10 minutes)

Departures from Maruyama Koen Station: First bus at 9:00 AM, last bus at 3:20 PM

Departures from Waterworks Memorial Hall: First bus at 10:00 AM, last bus at 4:20 PM

• Get off at the 'Ropeway Iriguchi' tram stop and walk 10–15 minutes

• Get off at the 'Fushimi-cho Takadai' JR Bus stop and walk 5–10 minutes

• Use the festival's temporary parking lot (at Sapporo Municipal Fushimi Elementary School Sub-Ground) and walk 20 minutes

5. Dedicated Parking for Media Outlets

A dedicated parking area is available for media representatives.
