Sapporo City: "Heartfelt Warmth" for Furusato Nozei

Sapporo City (Mayor: Katsuhiro Akimoto) is launching a new promotion for the operation of its Furusato Nozei system, featuring illustrations by Hiroshi Oba (hereinafter referred to as "Oba's works"), a cartoonist and painter from Sapporo (1921-1988).

In this era of advancing digitalization, we want to deliver "warmth" that can soothe the heart the moment it is held. With this in mind, a collaboration with Hiroshi Oba, a rare artist Sapporo is proud of, has been realized.

Mr. Oba's illustrations, with their somewhat nostalgic and heartwarming touch, are loved across generations and have the power to heal the hearts of those who see them. We will deliver Oba's works, which cherish Sapporo's four seasons and landscapes, to everyone nationwide.

**[About Mr. Hiroshi Oba]**
Born in Sapporo City in 1921. After working in the design department of Hokkaido Shimbun, he became an independent cartoonist and painter. He is known for his heartwarming and humorous style, and created many works on themes such as airplanes and food culture. Even after his regrettable passing in 1988, his unique brushwork continues to be loved by many fans as one of "Sapporo's cultural symbols."

**■ Use in designs for envelopes and sealed postcards for donors**
Oba's works will be used in the designs of envelopes and sealed postcards (*1) sent to donors who have made contributions, such as donation receipts.

The target donors are those who make Furusato Nozei donations to Sapporo City between April 1st and late August, Reiwa 8 (*2).

*1: A postcard where the content is sealed by folding and gluing, requiring the recipient to peel it open to read. It is used for sending important notices while protecting privacy.

*2: The period is subject to change. The designs will be used sequentially from April 1st, Reiwa 8, for envelopes and sealed postcards sent to donors. The designs will be changed periodically.
