Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture (Mayor: Mitsuo Nishida) and Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. Chiba Nishi Branch (Branch Manager: Shinya Yonemoto) concluded a comprehensive partnership agreement on Thursday, March 26, 2026. The purpose of this agreement is for Sakura City and Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. Chiba Nishi Branch to establish close mutual cooperation and promote collaborative activities, thereby contributing to regional revitalization and the improvement of local welfare.

◆Comment from Sakura City Mayor Mitsuo Nishida

Today, Sakura City and Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. Chiba Nishi Branch have concluded a comprehensive partnership agreement.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those involved who made efforts to conclude this agreement.

The Chiba Nishi Branch has provided significant support to date, such as offering "yellow badges" in cooperation with the Board of Education for traffic safety initiatives targeting new first-grade elementary school students, and holding "Business Continuity Plan Creation Support Seminars" in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry to strengthen disaster preparedness for small and medium-sized enterprises.

These collaborative public-private initiatives are truly meaningful social contribution activities that help solve regional issues, and I express my heartfelt respect for them.

Since I took office as mayor in April 2019, today's agreement marks the tenth comprehensive partnership agreement, which is a memorable milestone.

Furthermore, this is the first time that a signing ceremony has been held outside the city hall, making it a very fresh endeavor that symbolizes a new expansion of public-private cooperation.

This agreement covers seven fields: disaster prevention, traffic safety, welfare, environment, industrial promotion, education, and other necessary matters to achieve the objectives of this agreement. We intend to promote cooperation by leveraging the resources and knowledge of both parties.

In particular, based on information sharing in peacetime, we aim to steadily accumulate on-site results such as rapid cooperation during disasters, safety measures to protect children and the elderly, strengthening the resilience of local businesses, and human resource development. We hope to connect these efforts to the improvement of citizen services, the revitalization of the entire city, and the realization of a sustainable city of "Sakura." We kindly ask for your continued support.

◆Outline of the Agreement

1. Purpose of the Agreement

The purpose is for Sakura City and Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. Chiba Nishi Branch to establish close mutual cooperation and promote collaborative activities, thereby contributing to regional revitalization and the improvement of local welfare.

2. Details of Cooperation

To achieve the purpose, the parties will collaborate on the following matters:

(1) Matters related to disaster prevention

(2) Matters related to traffic safety

(3) Matters related to welfare

(4) Matters related to the environment

(5) Matters related to industrial promotion

(6) Matters related to education

(7) Other matters necessary to achieve the purpose of this agreement, in addition to those listed in the preceding items.

3. Agreement Period

From March 26, 2026, to March 31, 2027.

However, if no notification is made one month prior to the expiration date, the agreement will be renewed for one year.
