Reiwa 8 (2026) Sakai Cutlery Festival to be Held

The Sakai Cutlery Festival Executive Committee will hold the "Sakai Cutlery Festival" with the aim of promoting the charm of Sakai cutlery, a traditional industry of Sakai, further disseminating it into daily life, and enhancing its image as a cutlery production area.

In addition to the exhibition and sale of cutlery such as kitchen knives and flower arrangement/gardening scissors, and sharpening services, there will be demonstrations of ancient forging (traditional fire forging and tempering), name engraving, kitchen knife handle attachment, and ferrule insertion for wooden handles, making it an event where you can feel the charm of Sakai cutlery.

Furthermore, we will hold the "Sakai Hare-no-Hi Marche" selling incense, processed kelp products, and Japanese sweets, which are traditional products of Sakai, as well as food stalls selling bread and sweets. This year, with the cooperation of the Kita-Sakai Police Station, we will exhibit "Working Police Cars" such as patrol cars and motorcycles.

Reiwa 8 (2026) April 11 (Saturday) - 12 (Sunday) 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
* Opening Ceremony (for related parties only): April 11 (Saturday) 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM

2. **Venue:**
Sakai City Industrial Promotion Center (183-5 Nagasone-cho, Sakai-ku, Sakai City)
(Approximately 4 minutes walk (approx. 900 meters) from Nankai Koya Line "Naka-Sakai" Station or Osaka Metro "Nakamozu" Station)
* The 1st parking lot cannot be used. Therefore, the 2nd parking lot and surrounding roads may be congested, so please use public transportation. We appreciate your cooperation.
* The venue is not "Sakai Denshokan". Please be careful not to confuse it.

3. **Fee:**
Free admission (Sharpening and some events are charged.)

4. **Contents:**
* On-site sales of items such as flower arrangement scissors, gardening scissors, and kitchen knives.
* Demonstrations of cutlery manufacturing processes (name engraving, kitchen knife handle attachment, ferrule insertion for wooden handles, etc.).
* Cutlery Clinic (sharpening).
* Demonstration of ancient forging.
* Easy Cooking Show (Chef Toshihiro Nakatsuji of Sakai Higashi Ninnin).
* Exhibition of "Working Police Cars".
* Hands-on events (apple peeling contest, quiz rally, etc.).
* Stage events (brass band, Goryo Taiko drums, dance performances, etc.).
* Sakai Hare-no-Hi Marche.
