Sagamihara City Museum Planetarium Special Lecture "Latest Space Research - 100 Years Since the Discovery of Galaxies" to be held on Sunday, May 24

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Edwin Hubble's discovery of the true nature of the Andromeda Galaxy, Sagamihara City Museum will hold a lecture on Sunday, May 24. We have invited Associate Professor Hidehiko Agata, who is active at the Astronomy Data Center of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, to speak about the latest information on galaxies along with the latest space research in the museum's planetarium.

'What kind of celestial objects are galaxies?' 'How much do we understand about the universe now?'

We invite all who are interested in such wonders of the universe to attend.

- Lecturer Profile

Hidehiko Agata

Born in 1961. Associate Professor at the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, National Institutes of Natural Sciences, and Head of the Public Relations Office at the Astronomy Data Center. His specialties are astronomy education and science communication.

He has served as chairman of the Astronomical Society of Japan's Committee on Astronomy Education, a director of the Japan Society for Science Education, vice president of the Japanese Society for Science Communication, and president of the Astronomy Education and Promotion Research Group. He is also active on television and radio.

He travels the world with the mottoes 'Make science a culture' and 'Energize the world.' He is the author of numerous books.
