[Saga City] Comprehensive inspection of "city defenses" ahead of rainy season

Saga City conducted its annual "flood defense patrol" on Monday, May 18, 2026, to verify disaster preparedness ahead of the rainy and typhoon season. The Mayor and representatives from fire and police agencies inspected flood defense locations throughout the city to confirm rapid response systems. Additionally, they performed training with newly introduced drainage pump vehicles to strengthen readiness for the flood season. Given the frequent flooding caused by heavy rains across Japan, Saga City conducts these patrols annually. During this patrol, participants inspected sites in person to confirm drainage measures and information-sharing protocols. The drainage pump vehicle is designed to complement existing measures, enabling rapid and efficient drainage during emergencies. By coordinating with national and prefectural governments, the city aims to reduce damage from heavy rainfall and ensure the safety and peace of mind of its citizens.
