Saga City will newly start "One-Month-Old Infant Health Check-ups" to further enhance infant health management and childcare support. The first month after birth is a period when small changes and illnesses not observable at birth may appear. Therefore, in conjunction with the one-month post-partum health check-up for mothers at obstetric medical institutions where they gave birth, infants can receive health check-ups by pediatricians. This aims to confirm physical development and lead to the early detection of congenital diseases.
Furthermore, during "Baby Visits (door-to-door visits to all infant households)" conducted by midwives around two to three months after birth, the check-up data will be utilized to alleviate parents' anxieties and concerns (e.g., breastfeeding, sleep, excretion) and provide necessary support.
Saga City began five-year-old health check-ups last fiscal year, with a participation rate exceeding 95%. The introduction of the one-month-old infant health check-up will further strengthen the seamless support system from birth to pre-school entry.
Key Points of the Project - Continuous monitoring through information sharing with medical institutions - Utilization of health check-up information for baby visits - Seamless support from birth to pre-school entry - Can be received simultaneously with the mother's post-partum check-up at obstetric medical institutions
Purpose of One-Month-Old Infant Health Check-ups - Early detection and prevention of diseases and abnormalities that appear around one month after birth - Support for the healthy growth of infants - Provision of advice to parents regarding childcare
Regarding Parental Burden Since infant health confirmation is already being conducted simultaneously with the mother's one-month post-partum check-up at obstetric medical institutions within the city, there is no new time burden for parents. Additionally, the cost burden that occurred at some medical institutions will be reduced.
Regarding Costs - Commission fee: 5,000 yen/visit - Out-of-pocket expenses: None
Medical Institutions Where Check-ups Can Be Received - All obstetric medical institutions within the city (can be received through consignment agreement) - In cases of homecoming births, etc., check-ups can also be received at medical institutions outside the city or at pediatric clinics (reimbursement available)
