Oita City, Oita Prefecture: "Oita City Trial Migration Subsidy" Launched!

What is the content?

This subsidy program aims to alleviate anxieties about relocation and encourage migration by subsidizing a portion of the expenses incurred for "relocation activities" such as "job searching," "housing searching," and "confirming living environment" undertaken by individuals considering relocation who temporarily stay in Oita City (trial migration), thereby providing an opportunity to experience life in Oita City.

[Oita City Trial Migration Subsidy]

Eligible Applicants

Individuals residing outside Oita Prefecture who are considering relocating to Oita City and are engaged in activities towards relocation, meeting the following requirements, are eligible.

[Requirements]

1. Conduct an interview with a city official (online possible) before starting the trial migration.

2. The stay must not be for tourism, job transfer, business trip, secondment, training, etc.

3. Cooperate with a questionnaire survey conducted by the city after the trial migration.

4. Engage in any of the following activities during the trial migration period:

・Investigate the living environment within the city for relocation.

・Prepare for employment, telework, side jobs, entrepreneurship, etc., for relocation.

・Search for a living base for relocation.

・Consult with administrative agencies (Oita Industrial Human Resources Center, Oita City) regarding relocation.

Eligible Expenses

Accommodation, transportation, and rental car expenses required for trial migration.

Subsidy Amount (One-half of eligible expenses)

Accommodation Expenses

Up to 5,000 yen per person per night

(Up to 3,000 yen per person per night for elementary school students and younger)

*Up to 3 nights

Transportation Expenses

Kyushu (excluding Oita Prefecture): Up to 5,000 yen

Chugoku, Shikoku, Kinki: Up to 10,000 yen

Other areas: Up to 20,000 yen

*Expenses for travel within Oita City are not covered.

*For private cars, only toll road fees are covered (gasoline costs, parking fees, etc., are not covered).

Rental Car Expenses

Up to 4,000 yen per group per day

*Up to 4 days
