Tagawa City Public Library will host the 'Rediscover Your Hometown! Lecture' to deepen citizens' understanding of local history and culture.

This lecture will focus on the history of castle sites built across the Kokura region during the medieval period, with a special emphasis on Takaotori Castle. Located near the summit of present-day Takaotori Mountain, Takaotori Castle was a strategic stronghold situated at the border between Chikuzen and Buzen provinces. Its origins date back to the medieval era, serving as a battleground where regional samurai clans vied for power. During the Sengoku period, it became a vital transportation hub linking Buzen and Chikuzen, making it an essential historical site for understanding the region's past.

The lecture will clearly explain the rise and fall of Takaotori Castle and the roles of surrounding castle sites, based on findings from archaeological excavations and historical research. It will also introduce what the region looked like before the establishment of the Tagawa Domain in the Edo period, offering attendees a closer, more personal connection to their hometown's history.
