Nara City is promoting the 'Bringing the Emotion of Art into Daily Life' project, utilizing hometown tax donations (Heartfelt Hometown Support Donations) to deliver artistic inspiration to citizens in their everyday lives.

As part of this initiative, a groundbreaking outreach concert featuring classical music will be held at a post office—a first-of-its-kind collaboration in Japan among a local government, a post office, and the nonprofit foundation 1 Million People Classical Live.

Building upon previous outreach concerts held at free schools and welfare facilities, this event expands access to high-quality art, creating opportunities for more citizens to experience culture in their daily routines.

By transforming the post office— a central hub in residents’ daily lives—into a performance venue, the city aims to directly bring the charm of classical music into the public’s everyday pathways.

Key Points

Leveraging the post office’s role as a place for essential daily services, integrating cultural art into citizens’ 'life pathways' allows authentic music experiences to reach multigenerational audiences who rarely encounter the arts in daily life. This initiative aims to help more people rediscover the joy of art enriching everyday life and serve as a catalyst for revitalizing the local community.

Through collaboration with Japan Post and Japan Post Service, which have nationwide networks, this project offers an opportunity to promote Nara City’s innovative outreach model across Japan.

The project is funded in part by donations designated to the 'Bringing the Emotion of Art into Daily Life' cause through Nara City’s hometown tax program.
