Matsuho Dotaku Designated as National Important Cultural Property

Minamiawaji City announced that the Matsuho Dotaku (bronze bells) will be designated as a National Important Cultural Property. To commemorate this and the 10th anniversary of Awaji Island's recognition as a Japan Heritage site, a special exhibition titled "National Important Cultural Property: Matsuho Dotaku and Regional Treasures" will be held at the Takigawa Memorial Museum Gyokuseikan from June 13 to September 23, 2026. This will be the first public display of all seven bronze bells and their clappers since the designation decision. The exhibition will also feature other Yayoi period artifacts excavated on Awaji Island.
