Midori City in eastern Gunma Prefecture has released a new city promotion video (PV) with the aim of improving the city's external recognition, increasing visitors, and expanding the exchange population. The video condenses the value of Midori City's rich and beautiful lifestyle, where residential areas are close to majestic nature.

It showcases not only tourist facilities and spots, but also the natural beauty and atmosphere that are not forced, blending into daily life. You can experience the extraordinary hidden in everyday life from the perspective of someone actually living in and feeling it in the city.

The released videos are titled 'Silence' and 'Pulse'. Each is about 3 minutes long and features tourist facilities such as the popular local line Watarase Gorge Railway and the wooden theater Nagare Yokeiba, as well as public baths heated by firewood loved by locals and outdoor basketball courts where you can enjoy 3x3, showcasing not only tourist spots but also residential areas.

The content is designed to evoke the image of viewers traveling through the city by likening it to a journey taken by Fuka Okawa, an actor from the city, who travels around while taking photos.

Midori City (Municipal Information)

Midori City was formed on March 27, 2006, through the merger of two towns and one village, and is celebrating its 20th anniversary since its incorporation. Located in eastern Gunma Prefecture, it is approximately 2 hours from Tokyo by train. The total area is 208.42 km², of which 80% is forest. The terrain is long from north to south, with the Ashio Mountains in the north, and the Watarase River, originating from these mountains, flows from the northeast to the southeast of the city.

Historically, it developed as a post town on the Akagane Kaido for transporting copper from the Ashio Copper Mine and as a center for raw silk distribution, a place where people came and went. Currently, Route 122 runs north-south from Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, and Route 50 runs east-west, connecting Maebashi City to Mito City in Ibaraki Prefecture. Near the southern part of the city, the Ota-Yabuzuka Interchange of the Kita-Kanto Expressway is located, and access roads to the interchange have been developed in recent years. Four railway lines pass through the city: the JR Ryomo Line, the Tobu Kiryu Line, the Jomo Electric Railway, and the Watarase Gorge Railway. Among these, the Watarase Gorge Railway is a representative tourist resource of the region, loved by railway fans nationwide.
