Kyoto Prefecture and Maizuru City are working to attract cruise ships to the Port of Maizuru to convey the charm of the 'Sea of Kyoto' area to tourists from both Japan and abroad.

On May 26, 2026, 'SH Minerva', May 27 'Crystal Symphony', and May 31 'Hanseatic Inspiration'—a total of three cruise ships, including two first-time callers—successively arrived at the Nishi-Port No. 2 Pier, where many passengers enjoyed sightseeing in Maizuru City and the 'Sea of Kyoto' area. Welcoming and send-off events, such as musical performances by local high school students and groups, were held to coincide with the ship's departures.

[Overview of Calls and Welcoming Events] As part of the welcoming events, send-off ceremonies featuring cultural experiences were conducted both on board and at the pier. Performances by the brass bands of Nissei High School and Nishi-Maizuru High School, the Shado-Oku Wadaiko Association, and send-offs by cruise supporters took place.
